 Sticky rice with “bang bang” sauce and eggplant puree

Meal started with the glutinous sticky rice, which was served in a bamboo basket. The waitress suggested us to scoop it up, loosen the mound with fingers, and then dip it into the sauce. The bang-bang sauce had a funky taste of fish sauce. It was also excessively spicy, so go easy on it.

Roasted Kabocha Squash

The squash salad was too tangy and salty for my liking.

Crunchy Coconut Rice accompanied with spicy kaffir lime sausage and baby iceberg


Lemongrass & Kaffir Lime Poussin

The best dish of the night. Poussin’s flesh was perfectly caramelized. It tasted almost as tender as a quail. The side of baby brussels sprouts was a peachy paring as well.

Ginger Cinnamon Cake

Finished with a forgiving ginger cinnamon cake.

Khe-Yo is not my favorite type of food, but there is no excuse to miss the first Laotian restaurant in nyc. Go try it, and you can be your own judge.
